About the Author
Being an artist and having worked with elementary school age kids I came to notice three things: 1. Children in general, love to draw. 2. Many of the children if not all of them included people in their drawings. 3. Kids who were struggling academically were able to find success through their artistic talent. “Mr. People” came about when I went to the school library, the local library and the main library to find children books on how to draw people and there were none. I found books on how to draw animals, trains, and characters, but none on how to draw people. The books that I did find were too advanced for primary aged children (6-8years olds). One day sitting in the park I noticed a large man walking towards me. His body shape reminded me of the old spinning top that I used to play with as a child. At that moment I realized that human beings were built like spinning tops, no matter what their size. So was born “Mr. People”.
