Art Institute Graduates Hope to Start the New Year with Their Dream Job

Design, culinary and media students present their portfolios to potential employers on December 17.

Santa Ana, CA, December 17, 2008 --(PR.com)-- This holiday season, Art Institute of California – Orange County graduates are hoping to here the magic phrase, “you’re hired” from their dream employer. On December 17, students will demonstrate the skill level they have attained through their degree program to over 150 potential employers.

“The portfolio review show connects graduating students with top employers across several industries,” said Director of Career Services Jenny Gonzalez. “Both employers and students are able to explore several different options at a single location.”

The portfolio review is organized like a tradeshow with each student assigned a designated area to display their portfolio and any other materials that help employers get to know them and their skill set. Each quarter, several students report receiving job offers from employers they met at the portfolio show.

“I attend the student portfolio shows every year and I am impressed with the level of talent, quality of work and professionalism that The Art Institute students show,” said Lawrence Williford, Creative Director and Partner at Earthbound Media Group. “I am always looking for talented staff and I find that the student portfolio show is a great way to find young talent thirsty to break into the industry.”

For anyone interested in a creative education, art students or family and friends of the students, the portfolio show demonstrates the level of work that can be expected after one completes their program of study. Guests can speak with the soon to be graduates and view the media students’ demo reels, the design students’ artwork and taste the sample menu items created for the culinary students’ restaurant concepts.
