MyManuscripts.com is having a contest for freelance writers where they can benefit from their mistakes... the one who made the worst freelance blunder will win a free copy of MyManuscripts Query and Submission Tracker.
Cleves, OH, December 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- MyManuscripts.com is hosting a freelance writer’s blunder contest between now and January 30, 2009. Freelance writers can anonymously use their experience to show novices what not to do as they embrace a writing career.
“As a former writer, I know how a simple typo of slip up can destroy working relationships or kill a gig.” Says Eric Engel, owner of MyManuscripts.com. “I thought it would be neat to gather some of the best blunder stories into one spot. And I wanted to make it easy for writers to share their embarrassing experiences without having to tarnish their names.”
Writers can submit their stories online through a form on the website, www.mymanuscripts.com. Once the stories have been gathered, five finalists will be chosen and those stories will be anonymously published on the site, giving viewers a chance to vote for their favorite one.
“My biggest goal is to make it fun for both experienced and inexperienced writers.” Engel says. “Every writer’s contest out there is makes it difficult for anyone who’s not an expert to win. And on top of that, the writers themselves don’t enjoy reading the entries. This contest will give every writer an even playing field, and the entries will be amusing for everyone.”
The first round of the contest will be judged on three criteria: the entertainment value of the story, how much damage the blunder caused, and how much a freelancer can learn from the experience. The second round will entirely depend on the viewer’s votes.
The first place prize will be the MyManuscripts Query Tracker software, with along with all future software updates and versions. The software keeps track of writers’ query letters and manuscript submissions, making it easy to organize and schedule agent and publisher interaction.
