K2PN Online and The Whistle Stop to host free Wi-Fi Configuration Event. Event to Benefit Lee’s Summit Social Services Food Pantry.

Lee's Summit, MO, December 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- K2PN Online will join with The Whistle Stop Café to host a free technology event on January 14th, 2009. The event will be held at The Whistle Stop, 227 SE Main Street, in historic downtown Lee’s Summit.

The event is being held to assist residents in configuring their laptops to access the free Wi-Fi Service in the downtown shopping and business district.

During the event, technical staff from K2PN Online will configure laptops so that they automatically seek and connect to the network, which provides 2 hours of free wireless internet access daily. In addition to configuring laptops with built in Wi-Fi, K2PN Online will also install wireless devices in laptops that do not have them. The installation will be provided for a flat fee of $25.00, which includes hardware. In order to insure that they have enough supplies on hand, K2PN Online is asking anyone interested in getting the Wi-Fi device installed to sign up in advance. They have setup a website at HTTP://LSWIFI.K2PNONLINE.COM with more information and a sign-up form.

K2PN Online and The Whistle Stop are asking participants to bring a donation for the Lee’s Summit Social Services food pantry. Among the items most in need this time of year are diapers, toilet paper, canned meat products, saltine crackers, and boxed cereals. Any item appropriate for a food pantry will be accepted.

Michael Nagles, president of K2PN Online, said that the event came to mind after several customers asked what was needed to access the Wi-Fi network downtown. “Rather than see residents struggle with configuring their laptops, we decided to offer a one day free setup so that people could take maximum advantage of this unique service our city has decided to implement” he said.

Candace Jennings, new owner of The Whistle Stop, offered her location while the two were discussing how many patrons she had seen taking advantage of the service already. The Whistle Stop also has a repeater inside the store which gives patrons a strong, clear signal for internet access.

The event will be open to the public, and will run from 7:30 AM to 5 PM on Wednesday January 14th, 2009. For more information, please call K2PN Online at 816-256-8844.
