Rings & Things Announces Its 2009 “Your Designs Rock!” Contest
Spokane, WA, December 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Rings & Things announces its popular yearly “Your Designs Rock!” contest for the best creations made from the company’s wholesale jewelry-making products. Entrants are invited to show their favorite handmade design — it can be anything.
Entries for the contest will be accepted from February 1 through midnight of February 28, 2009. Winners will be announced the first week of May. Winning entries (with credit to the designer) are often featured in Rings & Things’ catalog and promotions. That means exposure to more than a million people a year worldwide. Designers can turn around and use this exposure for "as seen in" promotions of their own.
Entry categories for 2009 are Glass & Crystal, Gemstones & Pearls, Mostly Metal, Metal Clay, and Found Objects/Miscellaneous. (“Miscellaneous” includes natural materials, ceramics, recycled parts, trade beads, resin, cording & Friendly Plastic®.) And for designers who are just plain tired of making all things beautiful, there’s an Ugly Necklace Contest.
A new development this year is that there will not be a polymer-clay category in their 2009 contest. However, polymer-clay artists can still enter. If a polymer-clay design uses findings that Rings & Things carries (for example pin backs, ear wires, bails, connectors, etc.), it can be entered in the Mostly Metal category, for the findings used. Or, a designer can enter a multimedia design that features both handmade polymer-clay components and other parts sold by Rings & Things (for example glass beads, natural-material beads, cording, etc.).
The 2008 contest was a record breaker, with more entries received than ever before (including several international entries), plus more jury-quality images than in years past. Thanks to all entrants for their hard work and talent. The 2008 winners can be viewed in Rings & Things’ online Design Gallery at http://www.rings-things.com/gallery/index.html. It should be noted that 2008 winners may not enter a category in which they won first place in that year. Rings & Things does, however, encourage designers to move out of their "comfort zone," expand their creativity and enter a different category in 2009.
Rings & Things encourages crafters, artisans, and jewelry designers not to wait till January to start their winning designs. It's never too early to start working on a new handmade project to enter. Entries don't have to be jewelry—they can take any form. It isn’t necessary to be a Rings & Things customer to enter. The only requirement is for the artist to include parts in the design that are available from Rings & Things.
For prompt notification of upcoming contest details, designers can subscribe to Rings & Things’ e-newsletter at http://www.rings-things.com/subscription/. For helpful, honest information about bails, beads and jewelry-making, Rings & Things Wholesale is available 24 hours a day at http://www.rings-things.com/contest/index.htm, or by phone at (800) 366-2156.
