"The Greatest American Hero" Endorses Comic Collector Live.com
William Katt, best known for his role as Ralph Hinkley in the 80's TV show "Greatest American Hero" has given an endorsement to the comic book collecting website and community ComicCollectorLive.com.
Hendersonville, TN, December 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Proudly displayed on the home page of the Comic Collector Live website is a banner featuring Katt as he appeared in the television series proclaiming: "Comic Collector Live is the Greatest comic book website for collectors everywhere…believe it or not!"
"Mr. Katt's character was one of my TV heroes as a kid, "says Steve Boyd, Site Director for Comic Collector Live. "I was seven years old - I used to tie a sheet around my neck and pretend I was flying like Ralph. I'd jump off my couch and run into the walls until my Dad would have to change the channel."
"The Greatest American Hero" aired from 1981 - 1983 on ABC and ran 43 episodes. The TV show continues to have a strong following for fans all over the world today. Even the series' theme song, "Believe it or Not", was a hit, climbing as high as #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and lasting 18 weeks in the Top 40.
In 2008, Katt launched 'Catastrophic Comics', an independent comic book company. In association with Arcana Studios, a new "Greatest American Hero" comic book will appear on stands at comic shops everywhere in December, marking the first time that characters from the television show have appeared in the two-dimensional world of comic books.
In an interview on Comic Collector Live, Katt talked about the new "Greatest American Hero comic: "I don't feel we were ready for the series to go off the air and we have more stories to tell. Hopefully, we'll capture the imaginations of fans and keep them coming back."
Comic Collector Live is an online comic book website, offering collectors software to catalog everything from comic books and action figures to statues and trading cards. The site also allows collectors and stores alike to upload their collection and create their own online comic book shop. Since its' debut in 2007, Comic Collector Live has grown to over 61,000 members and offers fans and collectors over 600,000 comic-related items to purchase.
"This makes perfect sense to us," Boyd explains. "Who better to recommend a comic book website than a super-hero?"
