WorldTV.com Launches EPG Feature and Reaches 100,000 Channel Milestone
Service furthers promise to become the Internet's TV Network empowering consumers to create and consume their own TV for free.
London, United Kingdom, December 20, 2008 --(PR.com)-- WorldTV (http://worldtv.com), a leading online video aggregation platform today launches its new web-based Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) which allows viewers to experience online video in a similar way to television.
WorldTV lets users create full-screen, TV-like channels online. As of this week the service now has over 100,000 channels created by users in 190 countries. The new EPG feature, suggested by users through a community voting mechanism allows viewers to browse other channels while watching an existing channel, and to browse the videos within a channel, something not previously possible on WorldTV.
The EPG is built in Adobe Flash and has been designed to be accessible to the widest range of users, including those on slower computers and those viewing the service on their TV. The new feature took many months to build and perfect.
Alx Klive, Founder and CEO says "The hardest thing to do is to make things simple and easy-to-use. It sounds counter-intuitive. We spent months on this feature, tweaking and perfecting it to ensure the interface felt natural and intuitive. We're excited to see it out in the light of day".
In a future update WorldTV will add the capability to allow users to pick and choose which channels appear in the EPG on their channel, in effect allowing anyone to create their own TV network of channels. A blog post with more details about the update is available at http://worldtv.com/pages/changelog/worldtv-introduces-epg-feature and an online press kit with images, bios, background etc is available at http://worldtv.com/epk.
