Firefly Magic®, designer and manufacturer of the World's most accurate recreation of Mother Nature’s amazing flashing, flickering and fading Fireflies has released its retail version of the amazing electronic fireflies. The new units have 7 or 14 'Fireflies' and are a 2-in-1 product operating from either solar energy or from standrad AA batteries for more flexibility.
Los Angeles, CA, December 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Sigma Two Industries, Apple Valley, California has introduced its new, patented, retail product, Firefly Magic® Firefly Lights. This will be the first opportunity for resellers such as lawn, garden and landscape centers, gift stores, museum, discovery, and zoo shops, water garden pond stores, wedding shops, RV Centers, novelty, party, and holiday theme stores, pool and spa centers, and hardware stores to sell the new flashing, flickering and fading fireflies to homeowners for their backyards and gardens.
The new retail product is environmentally friendly (certified No Lead) and easy to install, using solar power to keep the little electronic fireflies flashing and glowing for nights on end. So accurate are these Firefly Magic® Firefly Lights, that they're used by nature museums, zoos, and theme parks for recreating the real look and feel of fireflies for tens-of-thousands of visitors. They've also been recognized in a scientific journal as a key element of firefly field research, being used to lure specific species of live fireflies.
The inventor of the technology, Stephen Taylor, first developed prototype units, followed with sales to commercial organizations, then limited Internet sales. Taylor shared, "We frequently receive calls from retailers and distributors asking if they can carry our product. Unfortunately, we've had limited manufacturing capacity in Southern California, as well as high production costs, so we just couldn't fulfill those retailers’ requests."
However, after Firefly Magic® Firefly Lights were featured on HGTV, DIY Network, Animal Planet, the National Geographic Channel and others, the decision was made to reposition manufacturing to align more closely with the cost demands of traditional retail distribution channels.
The new solar and battery powered retail version of Firefly Magic® Firefly Lights will feature 14 electronic fireflies, each matching the size and greenish-yellow color of one of the most common varieties of firefly in the United States. Each 'firefly' is on its own individual wire, and when extended, the unit can cover an area approximately 24 feet wide.
Asked what the biggest challenge laying ahead for this new product is, Taylor replied, "Getting people aware that such an innovate product even exists. Because there's never been anything like this on the store shelves before, customers won't be looking for it. For those who have previously purchased our product on the Internet, we know it generates great word-of-mouth. But spreading the word in the retail environment will definitely be a challenge . . . but one we’re looking forward to because everyone truly does love 'Fireflies', both Mother Nature's and ours."
