Vietnam Wall - The Wall That Heals
Cherry Hill, NJ, December 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- “The Wall That Heals”, a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., will bring the message of The Wall home to Cherry Hill from April 16th to April 19th, 2009.
The exhibition will feature the dramatic replica – stretching nearly 250 feet in total length – as well as an Information Center and traveling museum displaying memorabilia left at The Wall in Washington, D.C.
"Bringing The Wall Home" to communities throughout our country allows the souls enshrined on the Memorial to exist, once more, among family and friends in the peace and comfort of familiar surroundings. The traveling exhibit, known as The Wall That Heals, allows the many thousands of veterans who have been unable to cope with the prospect of "facing The Wall" to find the strength and courage to do so within their own communities, thus allowing the healing process to begin.
American Legion Post 372 Commander Charles Macukewicz said, “We are delighted to be able to bring this powerful memorial to millions who may not have otherwise been able to see it. While the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is undoubtedly the most significant memorial for Vietnam veterans, the healing experience has effected veterans and individuals touched by all wars."
The Traveling Museum and Information Center provides a comprehensive educational component to enrich and complete visitors' experiences. The Museum chronicles the Vietnam War era and the unique healing power of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, while the Information Center serves as a venue for people to learn about friends and loved ones lost in the war.
This event will coincide with Cherry Hill’s Annual Patriotic & Gratitude Week in which homage is paid to the victims of 911 and our fighting men and women by adorning the cherry trees on Chapel Avenue with American flags and yellow ribbons.
While the exact location of the exhibition is still in the approval process, local sponsors and volunteers are sought to help with this worthwhile and historical event. Sponsorship and Volunteer forms can be filled out online by going to www.alch372.com. Alternatively you can email squinn9807@aol.com , call 856-665-3889 to have a form sent to you or stop by American Legion Post 372 located at 1532 Martin Ave, Cherry Hill.
