Shattered Innocence: New Book Offers Testimony of Healing

Fort Bragg, NC, January 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press author Kimberly Hill wants to educate and entertain those who read her new book, Shattered Innocence; The Error of Revenge. Among the many valuable insights this book contains, Hill wants to impart especially how people’s life experiences shape them—yet people are not at the mercy of their collective experiences. A person’s past does not necessarily have to shape their future.

In Shattered Innocence, we first meet Coleman and Kameesha, a couple who are beginning to discover that life’s many challenges are chipping away at their relationship. Kayla, their baby daughter, is the only thing keeping their union from completely dissolving. Throughout her childhood, Kayla’s parents do their best to shelter her from their problems and other unpleasantness, but despite their attempts, Kayla is eventually exposed to a life of hurt and betrayal. She grows into a woman who craves love and commitment, and her fear of rejection leads to some irrational behavior. The reader is left to question Kayla’s decisions (as well as those of her parents) and compare them to their own.

Hill wrote this book in response to an awakening. “When God opened my eyes to what was keeping me from escalating to the next level, I was moved to take some of my life’s experiences and share them in a story form,” she says. “My past experiences had caused me to become introverted and a prisoner within myself. I lost my own identity. In my quest for God to unveil my purpose, he first had to show me who I was.” Hill found that in order to discover the real person within, she had to face her past. Her healing resulted from working her way backward—from the roots of her past toward the surface of her present.
