Las Hermanas, Los Hermanos and Rings & Things Partner to Help Develop a Salvadoran Village
Spokane, WA, December 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Wholesale jewelry-parts supplier Rings & Things has partnered with two groups to support the development of a village in El Salvador. The company has provided monetary support and volunteers to a women’s-empowerment organization named Las Hermanas (“Sisters”), and a youth auxiliary named Los Hermanos (“Brothers”).
Working to build basic infrastructure in the refugee-resettlement village of Huisisilapa, El Salvador, these two organizations have raised tens of thousands of dollars to build, equip and staff a school there. Also established has been a jewelry-making cooperative to help lcoal women strengthen the economy of their struggling new town. Many other projects are underway, including putting several Huisisilapa students through the University of El Salvador.
Rings & Things employees have participated in both groups. Corporate-sales manager and Las Hermanas member Laurae Sather has traveled to Huisisilapa and worked there as part of a Spokane volunteer women’s delegation. Packing/pulling department member Dao Crosby also has traveled to El Salvador to work in the village as part of a Los Hermanos delegation of high-school students. Both employees, along with coworkers, support the two organizations with charitable deductions from every paycheck. These contributions are matched by Rings & Things owners Russ Nobbs and Dee Mueller.
Rings & Things urges everyone to learn more about the work of Las Hermanas and Los Hermanos, and to support both groups.
