Bal Seal Works Smarter with New Inventory System
Bal Seal Engineering, Inc. has announced its successful integration of dcLINK®, a data collection technology that allows for faster, more accurate electronic tracking of inventory, assets and time.
Foothill Ranch, CA, January 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The dcLINK system, designed by Data Systems International (DSI) of Overland Park, Kansas, uses handheld scanners, special software and advanced bar coding technology to quickly gather and interpret information about shop floor activity, materials usage and inventory requirements. Bal Seal began testing the system in early 2008 and has reported dramatic improvements in efficiency following the complete integration.
“With [dcLINK], we’re able to analyze our materials inventory levels and keep them lean,” said Bal Seal Manufacturing Systems Resource Manager Ron Naus. “Thanks to this system, we have access to real-time data that helps us understand exactly what materials we have on hand, and what materials we’ll need to keep our customers satisfied.”
According to Naus, Bal Seal chose dcLINK for its flexibility and direct integration with existing enterprise systems. The technology, which he described as “easy to learn and adopt,” has helped Bal Seal automate processes that were previously paper-based. It has also eliminated the need for manual data entry, Naus said.
As a result of the dcLINK integration, Bal Seal has reported a 30% reduction in inventory variances and a 20% increase in labor utilization.
