New Art Auction at PoliceAuctions.com
A number of original oil paintings by Alin Iov have been contracted to be auctioned by PoliceAuctions.com at $1 minimum bid with no reserve.
Fountain Valley, CA, June 17, 2006 --(PR.com)-- A number of original oil paintings by Alin Iov have been contracted to be auctioned by PoliceAuctions.com at $1 minimum bid with no reserve. It’s difficult to bring quality oil paintings into auction because typically they go for less than what they would at a gallery, unless you are talking about aVan Gogh or other high-end paintings. Those famous paintings are handled primarily by auction houses like Southebys and command millions of dollars, which is out of reach for the average person.
For those who can’t afford a Picasso, there are many artists represented in galleries across the country whose works range typically in price from $3000 to $60,000. This is still pricey, so a robust print market has emerged, with limited edition Giclee’s usually going anywhere from $1000-$10,000.
It took PoliceAuctions.com a year to find an artist whose original oil paintings were of substantial quality. The company knew going in it would be difficult to find an established artist willing to start the bidding at $1 with no reserve. Iov is a young dynamic painter whose work has been collected in Europe, The United States, and Japan. He draws heavily on the cubist style, but with his own unique voice, fluid colors, and fun themes, like his Don Quixote painting.
“It was important to us that we bring in paintings that would be of real value to the bidders,” a company spokesperson said. “That’s why we’re doing original oil paintings and not prints. We feel this work is a cut above what is typically found in online auctions and we’re excited that we can offer this to our customers at a $1 opening bid and no reserve.”
The 11 original works will be auctioned primarily in July 2006, with one or two following in August through PoliceAuctions.com’s Fire Auctions. Only subscribers to PoliceAuctions.com have access to these auctions and the items only appear 24 hours in advance, so interested bidders will have keep a diligent watch for these auction opportunities, which also include auctions on jewelry, tools, RC cars, electronics and other items.
