2006 Abilities Expo Features Lance Magin, Paralympic Champion
Expo Showcases New Mobility Challenged Sports Cars.
Anaheim, CA, June 16, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Lance Magin is a paraplegic who is living his dream. He races in NASCAR and has beaten some of the best drivers in Baja. Magin has proven and continues to prove that life is what you make of it, even if you don’t have legs and can’t walk.
To Lance and others who love and enjoy the thrill and excitement of driving fast cars it means special designed automobiles that are easier to get in and out of, with convertible tops that lift with one hand, and controls are ergonomically designed.
It also means that cars have to be equipped with the world’s most sophisticated hand controls. No push/pull devices in here. Today’s high performance cars for the mobility impaired come with an accelerator ring, mounted to the steering wheel, and a leather covered brake lever replace those old fashioned and imprecise controls.
Lance will be at the 2006 Abilities Expo in Anaheim working with RediAuto Sport, introducing his personal green Miata equipped with a new total hand control driving systems specially designed for 5 and 6-speed automobiles.
These new systems are designed so that ability impaired people can enjoy racing excitement like never before.
RediAuto Sport is now producing these new high technology systems, which provide innovative new hand driving system for stick shift automobiles that allows the drivers to use only their hands.
This gives drivers the ability to enjoy the thrill of stick-shift and high-performance driving using only their hands. The technology puts the clutch on the gearshift and an exclusive accelerator ring on the steering wheel.
Lance Magin was raised with the philosophy that winning is the only option and that one never gives up. At age 18, Magin broke his back racing in an American Motorcyclist Association event.
Suddenly, facing the future in a wheelchair, he wondered if his life was over. Ultimately, he decided it was not. Just one year after his accident, using hand controls, Magin became the first paraplegic to race the Baja 1000. He hasn't looked back since.
You can visit with Lance and see his racing Miata at the Abilities Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center This Friday, Saturday and Sunday June 16,17, 18. The RediAuto Sport booth, number 726.
