Woburn, MA, January 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Crane inquiries from Latin America are flowing in from a vast array of industries. These are just a sample of the new orders from the region for which North American Industries’ engineering expertise has been instrumental in accommodating the growing demand and unique design requirements.

Sugar Refinery in Peru
Though this crane will be located indoors, the crane components are being designed for a sugar refinery located near the ocean. Due to the environment, North American Industries is engineering the 25 metric ton crane components with NEMA 4X electric brakes and epoxy paint. The system is comprised of two 12.5 metric ton hoists with independent or simultaneous operation of the hoists/trolleys. Technicians are planning to be on site for three days of installation.

Precast Concrete Facility in Chile
A large concrete company requires a 12 metric ton gantry crane for outdoor Class E severe duty use. The crane is being designed to handle a 3mm/meter (0.3%) slope as it runs on a 721 foot long track. The single girder double leg gantry system will be engineered with an 85’ span, rain cover, and stainless steel control enclosure. Due to the high duty cycle of the system while lifting precast concrete beams, North American Industries is designing the crane with drives rated for continuous duty.

Paper Mill in Mexico
North American Industries is engineering a recently ordered 10 ton bridge crane with upgraded drives and controls to ensure proper operation in extreme ambient temperatures where the crane will be installed. The double girder crane system is also designed with NEMA 4 enclosures, thermal protection for the trolley motor, and special lubrication for the gears. A second crane for a roll shop will have a 20 ton capacity and a 10 ton auxiliary hoist with NEMA 12 enclosures. A third bridge crane for a metal work shop will have a 5 ton capacity, single girder, and NEMA 12 enclosures.

Steel Service Center in Colombia
This order is for ten sets of crane components: three 3 ton semi-gantry cranes with 30’ spans, a 25 ton bridge crane, a 10 ton bridge crane, and five 5 ton bridge cranes all with spans ranging between 60 and 80 feet.

Comercializadora Orion Company in Venezuela
This customer visited North American Industries and placed an order after thorough review of our operations. The 5 metric ton double girder double leg gantry crane with NEMA 4X enclosures is expected to ship in January along with a ½ metric ton hoist and trolley for an existing crane.
