Yes He Can

Urban Artist THH70 Featured in Barack Obama Art Exhibit.

Washington, DC, January 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- "El Arte Como Politica: La Politica Como Arte", an art exhibit in the Dominican Republic located at the Barna Business School (www.barna.edu.do) in the country's capital city of Santo Domingo, is currently playing host to an exhibit of over 80 limited edition prints. The show, curated by Glennys Anglada and running until January 31, 2009, spotlights a wide variety of Obama-inspired artwork by urban artists across the globe, including pieces by artists Shepard Fairey, Ray Noland, David Choe, Ron English, and now THH70.

The exhibit, considered by website "The Obama Art Report" (www.obamaartreport.com) to be "Without a doubt the most impressive Obama Art collection (I've) ever seen" consisted of signed and numbered limited edition prints until Ms. Anglada approached artist THH70 to commission him to create the show's centerpiece, an original painting on canvas. The finished work, entitled "Landslide ©", is the show's only original "one-of-a-kind" work.

American artist THH70 (whose art has drawn comparisons to the work of artists Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cy Twombly, and William S. Burroughs) has been creating his text-based brand of "lo-fi urban abstract graffiti" since 2000, and has sold over 1000 original paintings, either online through his website at www.thh70online.com or in galleries worldwide. 2008 saw him exhibiting his work in galleries across the United States, donating artwork to non-profit charity organizations for auction (Keep A Breast Foundation) and getting featured in print and online magazines in the U.S. (Proteus Magazine, Magpie Magazine, Spraygraphic.com), Europe (Mad Skills Magazine), and Australia (Desktop: Magazine, Lost At E Minor). He is also the founder of online artist collective AOA - Alternative Online Artists (www.aoacollective.com).

Over the 2nd half of 2008, THH70's paintings of Obama all sold out instantly to collectors, and his work was spotlighted on The Obama Art Report three separate times.

In creating his work for the Caribbean exhibit, THH70 wanted to "create a multi-layered and distressed image that conveyed the renewed pride that Americans are feeling again towards their country with the historic election of President-Elect Obama after a prolonged period of patriotic instability" while owing a "visual sense of the past most specifically to the 1950's Pop Art 'Flag paintings' of artist Jasper Johns and to old political propaganda posters". While creating the commissioned work, THH70 also painted a sister piece, entitled "Obama Nation" to complete his vision for the work as a whole. The "Obama Nation" original canvas is now available for sale on THH70's website.
