Sarasota, FL, January 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Sarasota Magazine has been celebrating the best of this beautiful and vibrant region with readers, advertisers and the community for three decades, and this year officially marks the magazine’s 30th anniversary.
“Getting to this milestone has been an extraordinary journey. We’ve traveled the road with many long-time readers, advertisers and organizations that helped us become what we are today, and we are truly grateful for their ongoing support,” said Jeff Lawenda, executive publisher.
To kickoff the yearlong celebration, Sarasota Magazine has launched a special keepsake anniversary issue, available on newsstands throughout January.
“Cities, like people, evolve, and the Sarasota we covered 30 years ago is much different from the cosmopolitan, internationally known city we are today. In this issue, we look at some of the critical turning points and people in the last three decades. We also look forward to the future; and what we realized, is despite all the changes, the essence of Sarasota has not changed. It’s all about character, an exceptional quality of life and the people who are drawn here to enjoy and enhance that,” said Pam Daniel, editorial director.
The 30th anniversary issue features a stunning retrospective collection of Sarasota photography, with contributions of some true American greats, from the famed Walker Evans to Life Magazine’s Loomis Dean.
The issue also gives a nod to the future, introducing readers to bright young talents who will play a role in Sarasota tomorrow, including a Ringling College Trustees design scholar and an international activist. There’s much more, of course, making this an issue to savor—and to save.
