Recent Home Losses Hits Home with Local Author, and as a Result, She Vows to Pay It Forward Through Her Book Sales

Hamilton, OH, January 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Losing your home, no matter the cause, of course means the end of one chapter of your life, but the good news is that it is also the beginning of another. Ohio author, Vida Langdon, has been through the devastation of losing her home first hand. In fact, she has written about overcoming such adversity in her debut novel, "The Farm". With so many people losing their homes recently – to wildfires in Colorado and California, mud slides in Washington, and foreclosures in every state – Vida wants to serve by offering comfort from not only her words and experiences, but also by donating a portion of all proceeds of "The Farm" to various charities that help victims of homelessness.

Vida has been a published poet since she entered and won her first writing contest while in middle school as a young girl. She always knew that someday she would write a novel, but it wasn't until a freak accident stole her career as a massage therapist, that she knew the timing was more than coincidentally perfect for writing. "The Farm", a 73,000 word novel, will take you on a roller coaster ride of twists and turns and ups and downs of Vida's seemingly ordinary, yet extraordinary life in the Midwest. "The Farm" is a story of optimism, hope, perseverance, and inspiration.

"The Farm" is about much more than just the fire; that is just a small portion of the book. It is about family and values, overcoming adversity, faith, life, love, and strength. When asked, one of Chris Calender's favorite quotes from the book is, "Every one of us has a Farm of our own. Whether it is the place you grew up, the good ole days, and priceless family memories, or whether it is your dreams, goals, and desires, The Farm represents all of those things. Embrace and respect and hang on to your Farm with all you've got, because in many ways, it is."

"The Farm" is available in retailers in 15 countries, including Borders, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and Books-A-Million. You can also purchase "The Farm" directly from www.vidalangdon.com, where you will also find a complete list of additional retailers.
