Swetky Agency Announces Award-Winning Author's Return to School

The agency is seeking a lasting marriage between its top-selling American author of more than 80 books and the college best able to utilize his teaching and writing experience.

St. George, UT, January 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Faye M. Swetky of The Swetky Agency, a multinational literary agency representing English-speaking authors and screenwriters around the world, said that award-winning author, journalist, and syndicated columnist, D. J. Herda wants to "go back to school." The author has expressed interest in returning to the academic world to teach at the college, university, or junior-college level. Herda taught for years at a private community college, where he held the title of Dean of English, as well as in the YMCA community college system--the largest junior college system in the Midwest.

Herda taught creative writing, journalism, photojournalism, business writing, and Creative Writing Workshop at the college level and helped to design educational programs for NASA's Challenger Space Center educational division at the elementary level, according to The Swetky Agency, which represents the high-profile author. Herda also taught downhill skiing for four years.

The academician-turned-author has had more than 80 books published conventionally by publishing houses such as Sterling, Grolier, and Simon and Schuster, averaging two books a year. He has also had several hundred thousand short stories, articles, and columns published worldwide and is currently president of the American Society of Authors and Writers. He is a past member of American Society of Journalists and Authors and the Washington Press Club.

Swetky, who says that Herda plans on continuing writing in addition to performing his academic duties, has a long and distinguished career as an award-winning book, magazine, and newspaper editor and is fully qualified to teach or lecture on all aspects of publishing and media, including electronic. He is presently Executive Editor of SCRIBE! Media Magazine.

Swetky said the author misses the challenge of teaching at the college level and will entertain offers from accredited institutions anywhere in the world. He plans on pursuing his advanced degrees while on faculty. He currently holds a B.A. in journalism from Columbia College and has completed several post-grad educational courses at DePaul University, both in Chicago.
