Understanding the "Carbon Footprint" Hype

Green entrepreneur & businessman, Declan Pritchard, publishes his first book to help the average family save money by implementing simple and consequence free home efficiency methods. He has self-published the book online to provide widespread and affordable access.

Anglesey, United Kingdom, January 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Businessman, Declan Pritchard, challenges the world of “green” government, consulting and media, by writing his first book to help the average family save money from home energy efficiency, and has published it online for easy and affordable access.

Mr. Pritchard was motivated to write the book because of the often disjointed and ineffectual ways used in getting the message out to consumers about energy efficiency, typically ignoring the real opportunities for everyone to save substantial cash.

Ray Allen, energy investor, comments: “Far too much effort is spent on persuading people that climate change and energy efficiency can only be solved by big business and government. The truth is, our government and business leaders know big changes are coming and they fear the consequences – truly effective education and the democratisation of the energy sector will be their Nemesis”.

The book sets out to describe the UK electricity industry and how much greenhouse gas it emits, in terms that can be understood by everyone. It goes on to describe how the average household can save money by considering energy efficiency. For example, Mr Pritchard shows, with easily understood examples, how the average UK family could save upward of £200 per year, just by changing out their old fashioned light bulbs. The added bonus is that this action alone could also save some 2% of the whole of the UK’s carbon dioxide emissions. The book goes on to describe other options, such as solar, wind power and even electric cars.

The book is titled “Save Money and The Planet” and readers can examine the book more thoroughly and read a free summary at http://www.lulu.com/content/5562591 .

The author, Declan Pritchard is 55 years old and works as a Geophysicist and company director in the oil & gas and energy sectors. He founded Wind Hydrogen Limited, a company that develops large scale wind and hydrogen storage systems. This company floated on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2007.
