Tourdust Launch: Bringing Inspiration to Authentic Travel
Tuesday 13th January, Tourdust, an online community marketplace for authentic travel experiences from passionate local operators, has launched in beta.
London, United Kingdom, January 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Tourdust aims to become the leading global community site for authentic travel experiences - to bring together a wide range of authentic and local tour operators from around the world with independent travellers that are looking for ‘off the beaten track’ travel experiences.
Experiences available on the website www.tourdust.com include eco tours and accommodation, guided mountain biking and food & drink tours all with passionate local operators who pride themelves on delivering a genuine personal experience. For example Ashley and Jason Bartner, who run La Tavola Marche, a stunning old stone farmhouse in Italy where they share their passion for the traditional recipes of cucina povera (peasant cooking) with sausage making classes, wine tasting and foraging for wild edibles.
The original inspiration for Tourdust came, bizarrely in a Ger in the middle of the vast Mongolian steppe. The founders of Tourdust, Anna and Ben Colclough had stumbled upon a guide who took them to stay with a wonderful nomadic family. Co-founder Anna Colclough says “The experience made us think, wouldn’t it be great if we could have somewhere to tell other people about this great local Mongolian tour and give them a chance to discover it too?”
Co-founder Ben Colclough says “We know there are literally thousands of fantastic authentic local travel gems around the world, experiences that are the result of an operators’ genuine passion for their hobby and where they live. With Tourdust we want to create an affordable marketplace where it is effortlessly simple for an operator to create stunning listings that will really inspire travellers.”
Tourdust encourages travelers to contribute their own authentic discoveries from their travels and authentic local operators on the site can collaborate with each other to promote complimentary experiences.
Tourdust indirectly supports local communities and economies by putting independent travellers directly in contact with authentic local businesses, “The most important thing to us is the quality of the experience, however there is also a really important principle here, that as responsible travelers we can choose to book directly with local operators and ensure more of our money goes directly to the local community.” says Ben
