New Haven Hosts Renowned Experts During California’s First Ever Reclaiming Youth Institute
Conference February 12 to 14 teaches proven approaches for helping children at conflict in school, home and the community.
Vista, CA, January 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- New Haven Youth and Family Services, a residential treatment facility for at-risk boys in Southern California, will host the Reclaiming Youth Institute on February 12, 13, and 14 at California State University San Marcos. The conference is open to professionals in social work, youth intervention, education and counseling and is based on the latest research in positive youth development.
With the Circle of Courage as its philosophical foundation, Reclaiming Youth International is dedicated to the development and dissemination of proactive policies, training, research, programs, and strategies to better serve children and youth who are in conflict in family, school, and community.
New Haven has worked with Reclaiming Youth International for several years, seeing transformational results as boys work their way through its Circle of Courage program.
The Reclaiming Youth Institute has never before been held in California but is recognized across the nation, in Canada and Australia for its positive outcomes.
“Through the relationship we’ve established over the years with the Reclaiming Youth Network, we are to be able bring the Institute to California and share this incredible knowledge with our peers in the community,” commented New Haven CEO Doreen Quinn. “The seminars will show attendees first hand the innovative treatment plans and strategies New Haven uses every day to help kids in emotional, behavioral and spiritual crisis.”
The institute, geared towards teachers, psychologists, therapists and social workers provides continuing education credits for professionals.
At-risk youth experts and noted authors Dr. Martin Brokenleg, Dr. Steve Van Bockern, Dr. Larry Brendtro and Mark Freado will lead workshops such as Circle of Courage, Response Abilities Pathways, Circle of Courage in the Classroom and The Developmental Audit during the three day institute.
