Old Republic Home Protection Employees Give Back During the Holiday Season
San Ramon, CA, January 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- ‘Tis the season. . .
Although the economy may be tough and budgets tight, the employees of Old Republic Home Protection have continued their tradition of giving back and spreading cheer to the local community this holiday season. They generously donated to both an annual food drive and a toy drive held at the corporate office in San Ramon, CA. Both drives were organized by the Code of Conduct Team, a grass-roots, employee-led team created to promote a workplace that is safe, productive, and fun. Their goal is to make ORHP the Premier place to work, which includes providing opportunities for employees to give back to the community.
Food Drive: Due to current economic woes, increases in unemployment and home foreclosures, the most vulnerable in our society are being hit the hardest, creating a 20% increase in requests for food this year. In response, ORHP employees donated 104 pounds of food to the Contra Costa & Solano County Food Bank. This Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that collects desperately needed food and distributes it to people who require assistance and to local charities in Contra Costa and Solano Counties. They presently serve over 98,000 people each month, and distribute about 9.6 million pounds of food a year.
Toy Drive: Employees also participated in a toy drive sponsored by Antioch United Methodist Church, donating new, unwrapped toys to be distributed as Christmas gifts to needy children in the Antioch community to help them experience the joy of Christmas.
Over the years, Gary Vistalli, ORHP’s Claims Manager, and his family have participated in this program by collecting new, unwrapped toys for the children, and working to provide a hot meal on Christmas Day to those in need.
Vistalli stated, “We’ve donated hundreds of toys over the years to children that otherwise may have gotten nothing from Santa. The smiles on the children’s faces (and their parents’ faces) on this special day when they choose their gift remind me how fortunate I am to have a roof over my head, family and friends that care and a warm meal every day. For many of those that attend, the hot meal they receive may be the only one they get for the week.” Vistalli concluded, “I wish to thank all of the ORHP employees who generously contributed to the toy drive this year, and I wish all of you a Merry Christmas Season and a Happy New Year.”
