Author Jeff Vincent Offers Life Skills to Teens in 1,250 Teen Advancement Strategies
Hurst, TX, January 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press author Jeff Vincent, CML, MA, announces the release of 1,250 Teen Advancement Strategies: Tactical Protocols for Today’s Successful Teen, his latest in a series of self-help books aimed at kids and teenagers. Based on his experiences working with young people and victims of child abuse, Vincent’s new book gives real-life, concrete tools to today’s teens as they struggle with issues of self-esteem and look for ways to gain courage and success. Vincent believes that “…children must be given basic skills for happiness or they suffer pain, fear, depression, and sadly cannot then understand other people’s feelings to pleasantly survive in society. The privilege and responsibility of raising the next generation is ours.”
Child abuse is one of this nation’s most harmful crimes, wreaking all sorts of havoc upon the victim’s life and future prospects. A victim of child abuse lacks self-confidence and self-esteem, leaving them vulnerable to future abuse and exploitation from others. Worse, these victims often become abusers themselves. Vincent’s book, 1,250 Teen Advancement Strategies, shows how a victim of this abuse conquered her past and carved out her own self-confidence from life’s obstacles to build character and leadership through the Tactics & Protocols of the Forty Foot Club, a real group formed by Mr. Vincent.
The Forty Foot Club is a “Tough Love – Granite Style” program for troubled teens that uses nature’s classroom to teach kids survival strategies and acceptable social behavior. Vincent, the founder of the club, uses Jenny, a fictional character, to illustrate how his program works. Jenny is quiet, shy, abused, and as a result suffers from low self-esteem. She is a victim of child abuse, but after a camping trip with a group of special teenagers personally trained by Vincent, she learns that she is not necessarily a victim of life. Over the course of the outing, she learns how to use her imagination to survive and, more importantly, how to interact with others, trusting once again but with keen awareness to stave off potential problems. The life skills she takes away from this experience stay with her throughout her life, and she grows up to be the third youngest CEO ever of a Fortune 500 company. After Jenny is tragically killed by a drunk driver, her husband finds her diary and shares it with their teenage sons. The diary contains 1,250 strategies to help teenagers become socially acceptable, confident, successful people—a goal Jeff Vincent definitely shares.
In Vincent’s strong belief that increasing the reading ability of teens today will reduce crime statistics tomorrow he aims, 1,250 Teen Advancement Strategies: Tactical Protocols for Today’s Successful Teen, at helping even the young reader and struggling parent. He has marked the larger/difficult words within the text and adds a mini-lexicon at the end so that they can learn to easily seek out definitions on their own, without stumbling or skipping over them. Vincent also adds a chapter on workable tactics for pre-teens, teens, parents, grandparents, and even babysitter protocols to avoid problems and shine on with ethical solutions to everyday hazards when dealing with tomorrow’s adults. A fantastic idea in and of itself that more authors should engage in. Vincent’s latest book is class act role model for future books on teen self-help, cohesively put into understandable teen verbiage. His knowledge comes from his father, Dr. Clark E. Vincent, and mother, Dr. Honor E. P. Whitney (Vincent), plus several decades of camping trips to over 20 national parks with teens, employing the book’s tactics in the real-life tranches of today’s teen world.
