Forbes Recognizes Maryland Nonprofit
IMA World Health was recently included in the Forbes' list of 20 most efficient large charities in the United States.
New Windsor, MD, January 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Forbes magazine and Forbes.com have featured IMA World Health (IMA) as one of the most efficient large charities in the United States.
In its special report, America’s 200 Largest Charities, Forbes identifies IMA not only as one of the largest 200 nonprofit organizations but also as one of the 20 most skilled and well managed among that group.
“IMA has always sought to operate with the highest standards of integrity and accountability,” said Paul Derstine, President, IMA. “The more efficiently we operate, the more suffering families we can help—and the greater impact we can make.”
For nearly 50 years, IMA has been supporting the provision of essential healthcare services and bolstering healthcare systems in developing nations.
IMA’s efficiency has caught the attention of others as well. For example, for five consecutive years, IMA has received the highest possible efficiency rating from the acclaimed charity watchdog group Charity Navigator.
“What this means is that donations to IMA are put to good use, reaching those who need them most and making a real difference in people’s lives,” Derstine added.
Working efficiently has proven pivotal in helping IMA expand its scope and reach. IMA has been selected to lead a monumental effort to bolster war-torn Southern Sudan’s ability to sustain its own healthcare systems. In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), IMA helps provide primary healthcare for roughly 10 million people—while increasing the ability of national and faith-based healthcare systems to sustain that care.
IMA is also combating HIV/AIDS and childhood cancer in Tanzania and collaborating with Ministries of Health and public and private organizations to eliminate neglected tropical diseases in Haiti and the DRC, to name just a few initiatives.
IMA World Health is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps provide essential healthcare services and medical supplies to people in need around the world. IMA operates primarily in developing nations to restore health, hope and dignity to those most in need. For more information, visit them at www.IMAWorldHealth.org or call 877-241-7952.
