Sunday River welcomes the NASTAR Open January 31-1. Open to all NASTAR participants, this exciting race competition will give competitors the chance to meet and race with some of the US Ski Team's most accomplished athletes and qualify for the NASTAR National Championships. Participants will enjoy a meet and greet with the US Ski Team coach and athletes, an interactive sponsor village, prize giveaways, product demonstrations, exhibits and more. Top winners’ will win a trip to Steamboat, CO.
Bethel, ME, January 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- You’ve asked for it, and Nature Valley NASTAR is delivering—the first Eastern U.S. NASTAR event. Nature Valley NASTAR, the nation’s largest grassroots ski racing program in North America, announces the NASTAR Open, taking place at Sunday River, ME January 31 through February 1.
The Nature Valley NASTAR Open is a two-day open ski racing competition designed for aspiring, recreational racers and attracts the most talented racers in the country. All competitors need to race is a NASTAR handicap from any of the 120+ resorts nationwide. The event is open to all NASTAR participants, but will be limited to the first 600 racers that register.
Participants will have the chance to meet, race and train with some U.S. Ski Team’s most accomplished athletes and coaches including former Olympic Game racers, AJ Kitt and Doug Lewis and U.S. Ski Team Coach, Phil McNichol. AJ Kitt and Doug Lewis are both World Championship medalists, whose greatest talent is sharing their passion for the sport of ski racing.
Phil McNichol will be leading pre-race clinics along with the Sunday River race coaches on Thursday and Friday, January 29-30.
In addition to the exciting on-hill races and clinics, attendees can enjoy exciting off-hill activities including a meet-and-greet with Phil McNichol and some of skiing’s premier athletes. The Sunday River Resort village will be the hub of the NASTAR Open featuring an interactive sponsor village, a NASTAR prize raffle, product demonstrations, exhibits and the not-to-be-missed NASTAR Open Awards Party at the Grand Summit Hotel featuring live music.
On Sunday, the Race of Champions will challenge the best from Saturday’s races. Top male and female racers will walk away with a FREE trip to the Nature Valley NASTAR National Championships in Steamboat Springs, CO March 26-29 including paid entry, airfare and lodging.
NASTAR competitors will receive special lodging rates, including ski-in-ski-out accommodations and discounted lift tickets. Accommodations are up to 40% less than retail lodging rates, and lift tickets for participants and guests are available for just $41.
