New Release for Lucky Readers

Pittsburgh, PA, January 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Meet Zoe Lucky, the 13-year-old heroine of Outskirts Press author M. Carol Coffey’s new release, Zoe Lucky and the Green Gables Mystery. Follow our protagonist as she grows from a klutzy little girl into a teenager with courage, faith and charm. Zoe will capture the hearts of ’tweens, teens, and adults alike. Love, loss and adventure await the readers of this brilliant first novel.

Imagine a 13-year-old who has been uprooted from her country home and moved to Oakland a suburb of the ‘Burg (Pittsburgh, PA) after the death of her father. The new apartment building is a ghastly pea soup color, and Zoe facetiously names it Green Gables. Zoe’s mother begins working a night shift, and Zoe tries to hide her fears of being home alone, especially after reading a newspaper article about The Oakland Burglar who escaped from the local prison.

Along with a rash of other crimes in their neighborhood, the burglar breaks into Green Gables. There are no leads but Zoe wants to find the burglar. Through the adventure Zoe meets friends who support her search. The reader will meet Paki, a plucky African gray parrot who squawks at her mother’s boyfriend and Zoe’s only girlfriends. Miss Jahari is an upstairs neighbor and a professor of African Studies at PITT and she helps translate Paki’s warnings. Toby, a blue-eyed charmer becomes Zoe’s best friend, first love and sidekick through her explorations in a castle, a gothic cathedral and its secret passageway, a hidden stairwell and hidden treasure and a mirrored room in an amusement park.

When the burglar breaks into Green Gables the second time, Zoe’s mother is determined to move. Zoe is just as determined to stay and solve the mystery. Could the burglar be someone they know? Who is ‘The Shadow’ and who is making those hang-up calls? The clues and suspects are beginning to come out of the woodwork and Zoe can smell a rat.

But -- will Zoe be able to uncover the criminal or will she be caught in a trap when the burglar makes his final return.
