Residents of The Villages of Apex to Enjoy Fiber Optic Network
North Carolina's 2008 Community of the Year Partners with Connexion Technologies
Raleigh, NC, January 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Villages of Apex, a mixed-use development located in Apex, N.C., will soon bring its residents the most advanced entertainment and communication services available in the area. This is possible through a partnership with Connexion Technologies, one of the nation's premier fiber-optic amenity companies and Apex First Development, developer of The Villages of Apex. Connexion is installing a Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network throughout the community, which was recently named 2008 Master-Planned Community of the Year by the North Carolina Home Builders Association.
A fiber-optic network can accommodate future needs through its unlimited bandwidth, which is just one of the many benefits of this emerging technology. Fiber is more reliable than coaxial cable because it does not conduct electricity, resulting in fewer outages and greater resident satisfaction.
“We’re very excited for residents to experience FTTH-enabled services in the coming weeks,” said Mike Howington, co-owner of Apex First Development. “Our goal is to create communities that fit the needs of Triangle residents – now and for years to come. The Villages of Apex is better able to meet that goal by having a network that can support any application or service that comes to market.”
The Village’s network will support a vast array of services including ultra-high speed Internet connections, more than 200 digital channels of entertainment and multi-function telephone service. The network will also include a digital community channel for posting news exclusive to the neighborhood such as clubhouse meetings, community events, restaurant information and resident yard sales.
“The Villages of Apex channel will give residents access to all the latest community news, activities and events, “ said Howington. “This state of-the-art technology truly sets us apart from other developments in that homeowners will be able to stay connected to their community 24/7.”
FTTH is not the only advanced technology available to residents in The Villages. As part of The Villages of Apex’s Clean Vision Community™, qualified homebuyers who purchase a home in Phase II will receive either a GEM e2 or e4 electric car, or two electric scooters compliments of Apex First Development. The electric cars are manufactured by Global Electric Motorcar, a Chrysler company and the scooters are available through Great America Electric Bicycle Outlet.
The battery-operated GEMs have a range of up to 40 miles per charge and can travel on any public road posted at 35 mph or less. The electric scooters have a cruising speed of 30 mpg and can travel up to 40 miles on a single charge. Apex First Development is also installing charging facilities around the property to make it easier for homeowners to regularly use their electric cars and scooters.
