High Tech Bridge Replacement Technology Receives National Award
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation (AASHTO) recognizes InteliSum's LD3 technology with its TIG award.
Salt Lake City, UT, January 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- InteliSum’s technology receives the American Association of State Highway and Transportation (AASHTO) TIG Award for its innovative application to the road industry.
The technology was selected from fifteen nominees, and represents the second straight year that a technology from the Utah Department of Transportation’s (UDOT) Innovate-80 project was selected.
InteliSum’s technology, called Life Dimensional 3D (LD3) is a high definition scanning and software package that fuses dimensionally accurate “xyz” data with real world textures.
“State DOTs need faster and safer methods of gathering survey information for design and other applications.” AASHTO cited in a newsletter to its members. “High Definition 3D surveying provides a cost-effective solution to gathering data.”
After scanning with the LD3 enhanced scanner, the model is immediately available to collect data from with desktop surveying tools. One of the uses that UDOT found for the LD3 model was to use it as a public involvement that was displayed on local and national news outlets, including CNN.
“The tool is very intuitive and after a two day training class, our CAD team was able to combine their skills to be very productive immediately.” Shana Lindsey, PE, Director of Research and Bridge Operations at UDOT remarked. “The InteliSum LD3-type of survey’s initial cost is within 10-25% of tradtional surveys. However, the added value, such as safety – no surveyors need to be in the middle of traffic - and speed, reducing days to hours, can easily offset the added costs. There is no need to return to the field as HD 3D collects the entire image.”
About InteliSum Inc.
Intelisum (ISI), headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, is delivering the next generation 3-D visualization and design technologies to the worldwide AEC community. ISI is the exclusive holder of technology which combines LiDAR data with digital imagery, delivering an instant real world 3D model at capture. This model works as the “as-is” and is used throughout the design and construction processes. The software tools are used to perform complete all survey tasks from a computer desktop, model sections of the environment, and is compatible with major CAD programs. http://www.intelisum.com
