Washington, DC, January 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Fort Systems Ltd. has released a new version of BarricadeMX, the popular anti-spam software for commercial email gateways. BarricadeMX is used by ISPs and ASPs world-wide to filter inbound and outbound e-mail for spam, viruses and phishing schemes. BarricadeMX has been popular for large sites because of its speed, accuracy, efficiency, licensing model and associated cost savings.
BarricadeMX uses a variety of complimentary techniques to achieve remarkable efficiency and accuracy. Most spam is accurately rejected before the body of the message containing the virus, spam or phishing payload is even transmitted. This early rejection provides a large reduction in the cost of network bandwidth and the disk space required for e-mail processing.
Steve Swaney, CEO of Fort systems explains, "With no per-user licensing fees and the ability to handle thousands of simultaneous email connections on a single CPU gateway, there just isn't a more accurate, or more efficient anti-spam solution available anywhere near the per message cost of our software. Typically at least half of the existing gateways are retired when an ISP upgrades to BarricadeMX. When you add the fact that BarricadeMX is self maintaining and requires much less customer support than competing products, it's a clear win for any ISP who is concerned about the cost of supporting email services."
Version 2.2 further improves the speed and accuracy of BarricadeMX and adds these major features to an already impressive range of capabilities:
· New anti-phishing features prevent your users from receiving or responding to mail that contains references to known phishing mailboxes.
· Improved outbound message "water-marking" reduces the threat of Denial of Service due to “bounce message” floods.
· New options to block attachments by file extension or MIME types including on-the-fly parsing of ZIP and RAR file contents to block file extensions contained within archives.
· Easily generate safe and disposable time limited email addresses.
· Valid senders whose mail has been rejected can white list themselves. No support staff intervention required.
· Sophos AV has been added to the already supported AV engines: Avast, ClamAV, F-Prot.
· New message digest DNS blacklist support - this allows for the blacklisting of identical message bodies, attachments or viruses based on their MD5 signature.
· SpamAssassin, when called from BarricadeMX, may now be configured to use individual or by domain SpamAssassin preferences
