Debut novel is available for free on the Internet.

Liverpool, NY, January 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Author Tim Dodge today announced the release of his new podcast novel Acts of Desperation. The book is available as a free download in audio form at the iTunes Music Store and on the author’s Web site, www.timdodgestories.com.

Acts of Desperation tells the story of Ray Davis, a Virginia man who finds himself in need of a lot of money to help pay for a life-saving operation for his brother. He returns to his former home in North Carolina to restart a business he and a partner had there and to collect his share of the leftover profits. However, he discovers that the partner tied his money up in a thriving drug trade, and he will have to play a very dangerous game to get it back. He ignores the advice of a crude private eye, goes after the cash, and makes the wrong kind of enemies. Thrown into an impossible situation, he must use all of his wits and strength to save the girl he’s fallen in love with, the money for his brother, and his own life.

A podcast is a computer file that can contain audio or video. Users can download the file onto a personal computer and transfer it to a portable device such as an iPod or other MP3 player. A technology known as RSS enables users to “subscribe” to the podcast so that new episodes automatically download to the computer. Dodge is releasing episodes of Acts of Desperation as audio podcasts in weekly installments. In addition, text files of each episode in PDF format will be available one week after the release of the podcast versions.

Several authors in the past few years have attracted publishers after building an audience by giving their works away as podcasts. Among them are New York Times best-selling author Scott Sigler, Tee Morris, Mur Lafferty, J.C. Hutchins, Seth Harwood and Matt Wallace. Their audio novels, called “podiobooks,” are available at sites such as www.podiobooks.com.

Dodge is a native of Afton, New York and a graduate of Afton Central School and the State University of New York College at Brockport. For the last 24 years, he has resided in Central New York; he currently lives in Liverpool. He has previously published fiction and an essay in Down in the Dirt Magazine and Winter Sky Magazine.
