Knoxville, TN, January 28, 2009 --(PR.com)-- With Tennessee recently being ranked the third most obese state in the nation, staff at the Covenant Weight Management Center say it is time for everyone—men, women and children—to start moving to a healthier lifestyle.
Staff members will offer tips on the subject at a free lunch and learn program on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at noon. “Exercise and Weight Loss Tips to Achieve Good Health” will be presented by nurse practitioner Sherril Boozer, MSN, APN, FNP-BC, nutritionist Kayla Matrunick MS,RD,LND, and exercise physiologist Stacey Smith MS, LWMC.
“Everyone interested in adding years to their life and smiles to their day should attend,” said Kayla Matrunick. “Now is the time to turn statistics around and take a grasp of your own health.”
The program will start at noon and will be held at the Covenant Weight Management Center located at Fort Sanders West, Building One, Suite 200.
Reservations are required and may be made by calling 541-4500. A healthy low-calorie boxed lunch is available for $5.
Matrunick and staff will discuss the link between obesity and health. Obesity is defined as having excessive body fat and a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 and above. Health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease with a BMI of 19-25 (World Health Organization).
Obesity is linked to diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, joint pain and many other health problems. Obesity can be reduced and health enhanced by proper diet, exercise and lifestyle behaviors, all of which are addressed with the center’s comprehensive weight loss services.
