Laboratory Begins Offering Third Party Testing for Lead Content
Federal regulations on lead content in children’s product are set to take effect on February 10th, 2009. Eastern Applied Research now offers third party lead testing services so that all manufacturers, importers and retailers can know the status of their product lines.
Buffalo, NY, January 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Eastern Applied Research, Inc recently announced that they will begin offering third party lead testing services. The addition of this service by their Calibration Standards Laboratory will provide a low-cost testing option for companies affected by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) which specifies lead content limits for children’s products.
Set to take effect on February 10th, 2009, the new regulations developed by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) will restrict the amount of lead that may be present in goods marketed towards children. The acceptable lead content will begin at 600 parts-per-million (ppm) but will eventually allow no more than 100ppm content. This includes children’s apparel, costume jewelry, toys, footwear, etc and will affect manufacturers, retailers and importers of all sizes.
