Adbowl® 9 Ready for Consumer Raves and Rebukes

Original website for tracking opinions of Super Bowl ads enters ninth year.

Albuquerque, NM, January 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- McKee Wallwork Cleveland, an award-winning, full-service advertising agency, today announced the ninth annual launch of the popular Adbowl website – www.adbowl.com - in partnership with Rassai Interactive.

Adbowl, first launched in 2001, is the original online, real-time system for tracking consumer opinions of Super Bowl ads. Consumers vote online, letting advertisers know if they produced a “touchdown” or a “fumble”, and the results are announced just after midnight, the night of the game. Adbowl vote totals are collected but not shared in real-time on the site to ensure that voters aren’t influenced by the opinions of others.

“This could be the year to breakthrough with a Super Bowl ad,” said Steve McKee, president of McKee Wallwork Cleveland. “Despite the gloom and doom of the economy, people will still be ready to party on Super Bowl Sunday. Seeking an escape from it all through the ads, viewers will respond best to spots that are simple and light and help them forget their troubles. The tradition of the Super Bowl and the anticipated advertising extravaganza will likely offer comfort to an ailing nation.”

On Super Bowl Sunday (February 1, 2009), viewers can visit adbowl.com and rate commercials on a scale between one and five. Participants have the option of rating the ads online as they air or printing a ballot and rating all of the ads at the end of the game. A complete listing of the results, including a breakdown of winners as selected by gender and age group, will be posted on the site between midnight and 1 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on February 2nd. Registration is now open on the Adbowl website.

Adbowl provides a venue for consumers to express which ads they love and which they hate on one of advertising’s biggest nights of the year. The following is a list of voters’ favorite ads from the past five years:

2008 – Budweiser’s “Clydesdale Team”
2007 – Bud Light’s “Rock, Paper, Scissors”
2006 – Bud Light’s “Hidden Fridge”
2005 – Anheuser-Busch’s “Applause”
2004 – Budweiser’s “Donkey Dream”

The last time a non-beer ad won was FedEx with 2003’s “Castaway. Will this be the year that the suds fall flat?

This year’s Adbowl website infrastructure was built and will be hosted by Rassai Interactive, a video-centric interactive agency.
