Campus Poker Announces Launch of Social Networking Site for College Players: Summer Freeroll Tournament to be Sponsored by ALL IN Magazine

Today, Campus Poker announces the launch of a new social networking website for online players who want to get to know their opponents. The website: www.collegepokerassociation.com is the first of its kind for college and alumni poker players; it will replace the traditional "casino" atmosphere with the "Web 2.0" interactivity of user-customizable profiles.

New Haven, CT, June 28, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Campus Poker Company announces today the formation of its College Poker Association (CPA), a new online team poker league to begin in September 2006. Accompanying this announcement is the launch of its new social networking website at www.collegepokerassociation.com, the first of its kind for college and alumni poker players.

Founder and CEO Christopher Bartley says of the venture, “It is easy to underestimate the magnitude of what we're doing here at Campus Poker. We are adding a new dimension to intercollegiate competitions by allowing poker enthusiasts to compete as a team against their rival schools. We also appreciate that something is lost in the translation from live to online poker and have tried to close the gap by introducing our one-of-a-kind, Flash-based social networking system. This will allow players to get to know their opponents until the late stages of the playoffs when the tournaments will be played live.”

Building on the success of the first ever poker tournament between students at Harvard and Yale (http://www.cardplayer.com/cpcollege/campus_profiles/display.php?id=10), hosted by Bartley in November 2005, the founders of Campus Poker developed CPA to provide poker players an opportunity to unofficially represent their schools at the tables. The league season will consist of a series of weekly free tournaments throughout the academic year, culminating in a live, year-end tournament, scheduled to take place over the Memorial Day weekend. CPA will be open to alumni and graduate/professional students as well as current undergraduates.

The unique website will not only track the activity of CPA members (both in league and general play), but also allow them to create player profiles and eventually team profiles as well as interact with friends and rivals from other schools. Developed by award-winning Portuguese design team, Triworks (www.triworks.net), this site is the first social networking site designed entirely in Flash and offers many user-customizable features not traditionally associated with online poker sites.

While the CPA season will not begin until the fall, Campus Poker will be holding a freeroll tournament on July 22 as a preview of things to come. This tournament will be hosted by Open Table Poker (www.opentablepoker.com) and co-sponsored by All In Magazine (www.allinmag.com). Registrants for this tournament will receive a free one-year subscription to All In Magazine.

All In Magazine Marketing Coordinator Shaundell Fullington, who orchestrated the sponsorship agreement with Campus Poker said, “We jumped at the chance to partner with Campus Poker because of the unique and exciting nature of the College Poker Association platform. Never has there been such a proliferation of poker sites on the web, and this is the only one that will make people feel left out for not joining! CPA is an incredible community poker site, which will do for poker-playing college students and alumni what Facebook did for all college students and alums, and ALL IN had to go along for the ride. We are always looking for ways to increase our web presence with online poker players, and there is no more enthusiastic and opinionated market than the college community. We’re incredibly excited about this partnership and the chance to help jumpstart CPA’s introduction to the poker world.”

About Campus Poker Company:
Campus Poker Company was founded in September 2005. The executive manager is Christopher Bartley and the two senior managers are Alexander McBurney and Jordan Goldberg. All three are graduates of Yale University. The company will hold both live and online tournaments as part of the annual CPA season. Campus Poker has also created an innovative online poker community: one that replaces the traditional "casino" atmosphere with the "Web 2.0" interactivity of user-customizable profiles. By giving online poker this much-needed facelift, the company aims to attract the majority of the college market, a traditionally more web-savvy demographic. CPA will also feature a unique performance-based ranking system, allowing players to compete for both bragging rights and prizes, such as college tuition and spring break travel, that rival those offered by other sites.
