Mother and Daughter at Vintage Chic Boutique Offer “Old-Fashionable” Décor
Duo Recycles, Repurposes, and Reinvents Bringing a Fresh and Creative Style to the Area.
Blue Ball, PA, February 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Time-loved furnishings blend with soft colors and elegant embellishments. The result is cottage-like décor that is both romantic and cozy.
Cynthia Hartman and Michele Smith joined forces on a business standpoint to create their home décor and gift shop. This mother and daughter share a passion for treasure-seeking at yard sales, flea markets, estate sales and auctions. For years, they’ve talked about setting up a shop, now they have gathered their old and vintage-inspired treasures and used their creative visions to design one-of-a-kind furnishings that invite conversation.
Cindy and Michele don’t get caught up in antique dealing, but rather buy following their instincts. “We shop with an open mind and a trained eye for picking out interesting items. Rather than judging an item on collectible value or current appearance, we instead focus beyond the surface and envision what the item could become.” They are inspired by the “character of well-loved furnishings, the softened quality of vintage fabrics, intricate patterns of old china, handmade products that have a story and evoke memories of olden times.”
A green company, Vintage Chic Boutique recycles wherever possible. “We repurpose vintage tea cups into floral arrangements, garden bird feeders, and mosaic designs. Old shutters are turned into cabinets, barn wood is painted as signs, windows are given legs and become coffee tables, old doors are recreated as hall stands, crib panels or headboards become benches, and porch banisters become hat/coat racks.” Many products are crafted from supplies found at local thrift shops or flea markets. In this way, Vintage Chic supports local charities. Clearly family-oriented, crafters also include Cindy’s husband who constructs furniture pieces, her mother who makes crochet items, and even her granddaughter helps make products.
Vintage Chic Boutique also features scents and decorations to celebrate the seasons. Hand-poured private label candles and luxurious bath and body products tempt customers with fresh scents while elegant floral displays and whimsically fun décor give them ideas for sprucing up their own homes. Customers appreciate the reasonable prices, regularly comment how cozy and inviting the shop feels, and find many items bring memories of days past. Mother and daughter, along with their patrons, agree “old-fashionable” décor creates a feeling of home.
