Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, February 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- thecentre:mk Christmas Show is designed to delight old and young alike throughout the Christmas period. New research from thecentre:mk has revealed that 3.8 Million people visited the show with the Santa’s Express Train carrying a staggering 70,000 passengers. The research also shows that the Christmas show not only attracted visitors from across the region but from all parts of the country.
The Wishing Pool is a central feature to the annual Christmas Show in Middleton Hall and is used to raise money for local charity organisations and community groups. Established in 1991 MK SNAP is a vibrant, positive charity based in Milton Keynes. It provides work and life skills training to people over 16 with learning and physical disabilities. Through its links with companies MK SNAP provides real work opportunities as a focus for training (including literacy and numeracy) in a non-pressurised, supportive environment. MK SNAP has a dedicated team of 9 full time staff providing care, tuition and support to over 80 registered clients.
This year £12,820.47 was donated by visitors to the show through the Wishing Pool and included the VAT reduction from December 1 on all Santa’s Grotto and Santa’s Express Train tickets which was passed on by thecentre:mk. The donations are all going towards equipment for sports activities in the sports hall at MK SNAP’s new premises in Walnut Tree.
Jackie Tracey, Events Manager at thecentre:mk commented on the results: "This is absolutely fantastic news. Every year thecentre:mk put’s a huge amount of effort into the Christmas show for the people of Milton Keynes and the surrounding region. The fact the show has brought so much pleasure to so many people is wonderful to hear. Also because MK SNAP is able to use the money donated from the wishing pool, this means the will have a legacy with the local community. The charity does such excellent work in providing work and life skills training to people over 16 with learning and physical disabilities and as Christmas is really all about giving rather than receiving therefore thecentre:mk is thrilled that the visitors to the show were able to help."
Planning has already started for this year’s Christmas show with the theme to be announced during early summer.
