The Institute for Catholic Liberal Education Receives OSV Grant

Ventura, CA, February 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Andrew Seeley, Ph.D., executive director of The Institute for Catholic Liberal Education, today announced the reception of a generous grant from the Our Sunday Visitor (OSV) Foundation to help offset the cost of the Institute’s third annual Academic Retreat for Teachers. This year’s retreat for Catholic educators, entitled “Truth and Joy in the Catholic School,” will be held July 12 – 17, at the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The OSV Foundation grant will enable the Institute to expand this year’s enrollment to 30 participants and yet keep the cost per attendee low.

“Our Sunday Visitor made our first Academic Retreat possible two years ago, and we are deeply grateful for their continued support,” says Dr. Seeley. “The results from our first retreat were outstanding! Participants repeatedly thanked us for a retreat that re-energized their love of learning and deepened their appreciation for our Catholic faith. These Catholic educators brought their revitalized joy back to their classrooms and schools, and we know that many students were benefited! Simply put, lives were changed for the good!”

“Because Our Sunday Visitor increased their funding this year,” continues Dr. Seeley, “we are able to double the size of the program, and therefore involve more teachers, administrators and board members from Catholic schools. The grant includes funding for advertising, which allows us to spread out a wider net, making a greater audience aware of this year’s Retreat and the Institute’s plentiful resources for Catholic educators. It has also enabled us to involve more professors and further expand the network of Institute Academic Associates who can help us in other programs.”
