The Honorable Judge Greg Mathis' Mother Receives Outstanding Achievement Award Posthumously from LuvyaMom.com
Detroit, MI, May 05, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Alice Mathis, late mother of the Honorable Judge Greg Mathis, star of the Courtroom Television Program and subject of the Autobiography “Inner City Miracle” will receive a Special Tribute from LuvyaMom.Com, an organization dedicated to Celebrating and Honoring Mothers around the world 365 days a year.
Mrs. Mathis, was chosen by the The SHOCompassioNetwork, parent company of LuvyaMom.com,’s Executive Director Sherryl R. Hooks, for her contribution to the world by being the inspiration for the complete turn around made by her son, Greg Mathis. “I am ecstatic and proud Judge Mathis has honored us with sharing the precious memory of his mother with the world” said Ms. Hooks.
LuvyaMom.com was founded in honor of Ms. Hooks’ own Mother, Susan Anderson. “She was a no-nonsense type of lady” Hooks says of her mother. “She didn’t take any of my mess. I couldn’t and didn’t get away with anything.” 6 years after her mothers’ passing Ms. Hooks found herself homeless and alone. “I needed “untraditional” resources to help me get back on my feet, there were none available, so I had to develop the organization.”
The SHOCompassioNetwork was conceived and the LuvyaMom.com website were constructed all while maintaining residence from the corner of a shared room, in a transitional homeless shelter in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Full details of Ms. Hooks’ story will be outlined in her soon to be released book “In Case of Emergency.”
Mrs. Mathis’ tribute for Honoree of the Month will begin Saturday, May 7, 2005 for Mother’s Day, and run through the end of May, after which she will maintain a place of honor in the LuvyaMom.com Mothers of Excellence Hall of Fame. Hooks says “I thank God for Mrs. Mathis’ life and mom’s like her for drawing a line in the sand saying ‘not my child.’” I want her story to be a shining example to all that read it.”
