ChannelNet Recertified for the Fifth Consecutive Year by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council

ChannelNet Celebrates 24 Years of Operation as a Woman- Owned Business.

Sausalito, CA, February 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- ChannelNet, the leading provider of multichannel sales solutions, today announced that they have been recertified for the 5th year in a row by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) (www.wbenc.org) as a firm that meets its national standards of being a majority female owned, operated, managed and controlled company. The WBENC, founded in 1997, is the nation’s leading advocate of women-owned business as suppliers to America’s corporations and the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned by women in the U.S.

“When I started ChannelNet 24 years ago there was no organization available to provide certifications or help for woman-owned businesses. In fact, corporations did not even include women-owned businesses in their supplier diversity programs,” said Paula Tompkins, CEO and Founder of ChannelNet. “The WBENC is an outstanding organization that works hard to ensure that major corporations as a part of their overall diverse supplier base.”

Woman entrepreneurs are among the fastest growing group of business owners. The number of women starting and owning businesses has increased dramatically over the past few decades. As of 2008, according to the Center for Women’s Business Research, there are an estimated 10.1 million firms that are owned by women in the U.S. that make up 40 percent of all privately held firms. They employ more than 13 million people and generate over $1.9 trillion in sales.

Paula Tompkins is an accomplished entrepreneur and acknowledged pioneer. In the last 30 years, she has helped hundreds of the world’s top companies -- including four of the top five on the Fortune 500 -- use interactive consumer technology to improve sales and service processes between companies and their sales channels and customers.

Today, due to Ms. Tompkins’ leadership and vision, ChannelNet is a full-service company that creates cross channel solutions for global brands that bridge the gap between the online and traditional “brick and mortar” sales channels. ChannelNet is the only supplier of multichannel sales and service solutions in the base of 8,500 WBEs nationally.
