GreaterGood Network’s Web Traffic Increases, Five Million Visitors “Click Here to Give” Each Month
Seattle, WA, February 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The GreaterGood Network “Click to Give” websites experienced a significant increase in web traffic during the last half of 2008, enabling larger donations than ever before to charities devoted to improving the health and well-being of people, animals, and the planet. According to NetNielsen, approximately five million individuals now visit the network of six websites each month.
The GreaterGood Network’s “Click to Give” program is free for all visitors to the site. Upon visiting a site like The Animal Rescue Site (www.theanimalrescuesite.com), visitors can click on a giant button on the top of the page. A sponsoring advertiser makes a donation generated by that click. GreaterGood.org donates all the money raised from the sponsoring advertisers to the site’s charity partners. While each click is a simple action taking less than a minute and advertisers pay rates similar to other “click through” advertisements (such as those offered by Google), the accumulative affect is significant.
Since 1999, the Network has grown to incorporate six popular sites devoted to a specific cause: The Animal Rescue Site (www.theanimalrescuesite.com), The Breast Cancer Site (www.thebreastcancersite.com), The Child Health Site (www.thechildhealthsite.com), The Hunger Site (www.thehungersite.com), The Literacy Site (www.theliteracysite.com), and The Rainforest Site (www.therainforestsite.com).
In a shrinking economy, both charities and donors realize the importance of small gestures when multiplied by the type of reach powered by the Internet. In January 2009, the National Breast Cancer Foundation recognized The Breast Cancer Site as a major benefactor in the fight against breast cancer when The Breast Cancer Site’s contributions to NBCF’s free mammogram program for women in need reached more than $1 million accumulative over three consecutive years.
Earlier in 2008, Feeding America praised The Hunger Site’s contributions to their cause. Acknowledging more than $100,000 raised by September 2008, Vicki Escarra, President and CEO of Feeding America, said, "We at Feeding America could not be more thrilled about our partnership with The Hunger Site. People lead very busy lives these days and The Hunger Site is user-friendly and an easy way for people to donate and become engaged in the fight against hunger. The increase in Internet donations throughout the past year illustrates the importance of making it easy for citizens to donate online.”
The results for the 2008 Click to Give program for the six sites were:
The Hunger Site’s Click to Give program alone funded 66,235,889 cups of food (up from 49,612,616 given in 2007). The Hunger Site’s charity partners who distributed this food are Mercy Corps and Feeding America.
The Breast Cancer Site’s Click to Give program funded 3,315 free mammograms for women in need provided by the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Visitor clicks at The Animal Rescue Site funded the value of 67,054,500 bowls of food for animals sheltering in sanctuaries (up from 37,284,227 in 2007!). The Animal Rescue Site’s partners include Petfinder.com, the Fund for Animals, and the North Shore Animal League.
Clicks on The Rainforest Site's homepage funded the preservation and protection of 517,475,013 square feet of rainforest and the habitats of tens of thousands of plant and animal species (up from 348,600,625 square feet in 2007) by Rainforest2Reef, Rainforest Conservation Fund, The Nature Conservancy, and World Land Trust-US.
The Child Health Site's Click to Give program funded basic, vital health care services for 782,630 children in need around the world (up from 520,983 in 2007) provided by Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Helen Keller International, Mercy Corps, The ONE Campaign, and Prosthetics Outreach Foundation (POF).
Finally, The Literacy Site's Click to Give donations funded 489,367 free books for children in need (up from 307,568 in 2007). These books were distributed by The Literacy Site’s charity partners; First Book in the United States and Room to Read overseas.
100% of the money raised through the Click to Give programs goes directly to the charity as described on the sites.
