AfterWire PLC President and CEO, Peter Zmudzki speaking today to an Investor luncheon in Toronto, Canada; announced that to capture the rapid technology changes in the network arena and to enhance Client satisfaction and growth, the company will employ a best of breed multi-vendor network technology strategy.

Zmudzki remarked; “Everything transacting on the Internet today… is moving to the phone”, whether its downloading content, interacting with their favorite personalities, chatting with their peers, entering competitions or voting contestants off the show… mobile power is ubiquitous and more importantly – personal. For AfterWire, this means significant new revenue opportunities. For end users, it’s all about having a say — interacting with trusted information sources and like-minded people to make communications that much more relevant, interesting, entertaining and timely. He continued; “As an example, ComScore just released new statistics on mobile search and the numbers show it is gaining in both popularity and frequency of use in the U.S. and Western Europe. My guess is part of it is due to the majority of people having more and more access to the different applications and services available today that make mobile search an easy task. At the same time, more people are beginning to purchase smart phones for their practicality especially those who are always on-the-go and need permanent access to the online universe.

Latest reports, dating back to June 2008, demonstrate that a total of 20.8 million U.S. mobile phone subscribers and 4.5 million European mobile subscribers used search during that given month. If we compare those numbers to June’s of last year, we can see there is a clear 68% increase in the U.S. and 38% increase for Europe. However, the biggest upswing was the U.K. with an increase of 9.5% mobile subscribers and the U.S. with an increase of 9.2%.”
