Orlando, FL, February 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Miss America's Outstanding Teen Organization announced today that two of their former contestants have made it to the next round on American Idol. Arianna Afsar, 17, was Miss California's Outstanding Teen 2005 and Jasmine Murray, 17, was Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen 2007.

Both girls received scholarship money for their achievements.
Miss America's Outstanding Teen, the “little sister” to the Miss America Organization, is a scholarship-based program offering accomplished teens the opportunity to be awarded funds for college. The program promotes scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement for America's teens. In the past four years, the organization has made available more than $3 million in college scholarships.
"Jasmine and Arianna are two perfect examples of what this country needs as the next America Idol. They are both academic leaders, community activists, and dedicated volunteers,” said Kim Parrish, president of MAOT. “They are well-rounded teens and would set a shining example for other teens to follow.
