CDIA at Boston University Hosts DC Photo Meetup
The Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University’s Georgetown Campus offered a presentation and workshop to the DC-area photography community.
Washington, DC, February 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University (CDIA)–Georgetown campus hosted the January meeting of the Washington Photography Meetup Group.
More than 70 members of the group attended the 2 p.m. meeting at the Georgetown campus, which featured two presentations by CDIA personnel. Attendees spanned all different age groups and ranged from amateur to professional photographers.
The first hour of the meeting focused on CDIA itself. Director of Outreach Bill Chenaille provided attendees with an overview of the school and all levels of its photography programs, from full-time to high school. Photojournalist, editor and CDIA instructor Paul Simkin followed Chenaille with a lighting workshop. With the help of two teams of students, Simkin demonstrated efficient techniques for studio lighting and showed the versatility of using speedlights to quickly set up a portrait studio.
The Washington Photography Meetup group is an informal club for all levels and ages of photo enthusiasts in the DC area. They hold monthly meetings to exchange and discuss ideas, tips and strategies, as well as hosting photowalks and museum and gallery outings. CDIA hopes to have them back for future meetings and events.
