BizWonk Project Manager Takes Information Technology Expertise to Ecuador
BizWonk Inc. announced today that Joyce Nakada is taking a leave of absence from her position as IT Project Manager in order to spend two years doing technology work in South America.
Rochester, NY, February 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- BizWonk Inc. announced today that Joyce Nakada is taking a leave of absence from her position as IT Project Manager in order to spend two years doing technology work in South America as part of the Peace Corps Natural Resources Conservation Program. The program facilitates environmental education, improves conservation practices, and promotes alternative income-generating activities which conserve natural resources.
Nakada made the decision to join the Peace Corps after visiting her son, a then Peace Corps volunteer, on the small South Pacific island of Kiribati. “I’ve always wanted to join the Peace Corps,” she said. “I fully support the three Peace Corps goals of helping people in other countries, helping other countries get to know Americans, and helping Americans get to know people in other countries.”
BizWonk has a history of working on community service initiatives. After hurricane Katrina, the company developed a “Rochester Helps” website which acted as a central collection point for local hurricane assistance resources. BizWonk also developed and maintains a website dedicated to preserving the natural resources of Lake Huron’s 30,000 islands region. When a teacher in a local urban high school began an initiative to bring community members in as volunteers to help at the school, BizWonk created a sophisticated web-based system for managing volunteer opportunities and volunteers.
