Middle School Students Pedal Their Way Into Shape on Triton Recumbent Tricycles

Kids get back into shape using the Triton.

City of Industry, CA, February 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- ASA Products sponsored a fun, on-campus, fitness event that demonstrated to local middle school students the importance of peeling themselves away from their video screens and pedaling themselves to better fitness.

On February 8, a national sporting goods product development and distribution company donated ten of their Tritons, known as the ultimate three-wheeled cruiser, to Lennox Middle School's pioneering physical education program. On that day, school staff, students, parents and the local press will be invited to tryout these fun, safe, recumbent tricycles featuring an ingenious design and steering mechanism that allow users to race, do tricks and 360 degree turns on a dime. At the same time, the bike provides a cardiovascular and strengthening workout.

"We have had great success with the Triton recumbent tricycles product line in chain stores and through eCommerce sales, so we wanted to give back to the community by working with local middle schools," says Melody Hsieh, President of the City of Industry-based ASA Products. "Through this effort, we want to combine fun and fitness, as well as encourage youths to be physically active in a safe exercise environment.

The event coincides with state and federal efforts to make a positive impact on the fitness and activity levels of middle school students whose activity levels continue to decrease while their obesity rates increase. The prestigious Lennox Middle School Physical Education department has been recognized by the state and federal government as a model program that continues to provide, safe, high-interest, family-orientated activities that combine fitness with character education.

The February 8th event began at 12:00 p.m. on the Lennox Middle School Campus with a brief dedication ceremony followed by a student demonstration of the Triton Pros. On a 130-foot track, select teams prepared for the Triton Racing Rally. The competitive event was developed to encourage physical activity and good sportsmanship. After the race, all attending were invited to take a spin on the Triton cruiser. Also available were tours of the middle school fitness facilities, including its Fitness Center and Character Challenge climbing course. School staff, students and ASA Products personnel were available for interviews.
