Mott's Teaming with the Community
Mott’s Contracting Services, Inc. took part in a significant community revitalization project in connection with the 2009 Super Bowl which included a large rehabilitation effort on the former central business district of Historic West Tampa.
Tampa, FL, February 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- It's amazing what solidarity can do. Remodeling a home within 2 weeks was the latest challenge Stuart Alfonso, owner of Mott’s Contracting Services, Inc. tackled. As part of the Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay (RTTB) Super Bowl Campaign to refurbish 20 homes in West Tampa, Mott’s Contracting Services teamed up with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to remodel the Rangel home on Walnut Street.
Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay was an event that focused on repairing homes to make them safer, healthier and more energy efficient for homeowners who do not have the means to make the needed repairs. The repairs are completed at no cost to the homeowners. The challenge for the contracting companies in charge of each home was to remodel the homes with the least amount of funding as possible.
Due to the reputation Mott's Contracting Services, Inc. has built with its vendors over the years, they were able to provide the Rangel family with a new kitchen, bathroom, windows, extensive electrical work, roof repair/seal, plumbing, drywall repair, interior/exterior paint, finish carpentry, and landscaping, all of which were donated by their vendors. Mott's coordinated the efforts of its vendors and staff, along with the 60+ volunteers provided by PwC to complete the transformation of the Rangel home by January 30th.
As a Tampa native, Stuart holds firm to a personal commitment to reinvest in the Tampa Bay area and understands the importance of giving back to the community. "The amount of work that was performed on the house in 2 weeks was astounding. I am very appreciative to my vendors for their generous donations and for the PwC volunteers. Having the ability to support and organize such a great project that gives so much to the families and the community was very rewarding. Even better was witnessing the excitement of the volunteers when they were working on the house. There was a sense of belonging to the community.” (Stuart Alfonso)
There was an immediate connection between Stuart and the Rangel family. They went to the same schools and one of the daughters, Evelyn Celis, has an interest in the medical field. Evelyn is currently working and going to school full-time for a career in nursing. Prior to contracting work, Stuart was in the medical field and called upon St. Joseph’s Hospital for their assistance. After Evelyn completed the required application process, she was granted an interview and has since had a second interview.
