Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility Deploys Infor Hansen 8 - Permitting
Web-based Infor Public Sector Solution Enhances Customer Service and Simplifies Permit Process.
Atlanta, GA, February 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Infor Public Sector today announced Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility (AWWU), a division of the Municipality of Anchorage that provides water and other services to nearly 270,000 Anchorage-area residents, is live on Hansen 8 - Permitting. The new software from Infor Public Sector will be used to improve the efficiency of processes associated with permitting and fees assessment for the utility.
With this implementation, Infor Public Sector is expanding its relationship with the Municipality of Anchorage. The Alaska Development Services Department, responsible for assisting citizens with construction projects, also uses Hansen 8 - Permitting, as well as Licensing, Inspection, Cashiering, and Code Enforcement to streamline processes and enhance citizen service and communication.
Moving to a new, Web-based permitting system reduced the number of hours spent manually creating, tracking and distributing permits, enabling staff to focus on providing excellent customer service. The new system from Infor also streamlines the process of implementing security patches and updates to other software applications by removing the need to rework custom codes that may be affected through updates.
“Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility is committed to providing top-notch service to area residents and businesses, and our previous permitting system restrained our ability to implement new technology to enhance the customer experience,” said John McAleenan, customer services director, Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility. “Infor Hansen 8 - Permitting has enabled us to move forward with our plans and enhance our customer service. The deployment was completed on time and within budget, and we look forward to working with Infor Public Sector as they continue to invest in and strengthen the Hansen solution.”
In addition to creating efficiencies, the new system from Infor was also selected for its ability to support the growing demand for AWWU’s services from citizens and area businesses. A more robust solution, Hansen 8 Permitting virtually eliminates bottlenecks, meaning customers will now experience a simplified process, from application to receipt of water and wastewater permits, as the solution reduces the amount of time it takes to enter data and develop the final permit.
“Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility’s focus on meeting the needs of its customers and the ability to anticipate their future requirements will ultimately lead to greater citizen satisfaction,” said Bob Benstead, vice president, strategic planning, Infor Public Sector. “Unlike other solutions, Hansen 8 delivers the inherent flexibility to meet unique permitting requirements of water and wastewater utilities without the need for timely and costly customizations.”
Hansen 8 - Permitting’s functionality simplifies many processes for AWWU including the ability to address variable permits. For example, summer and winter hydrant permitting were distinct processes which required customers to apply for and receive two separate permits each year. Now, the utility is able to enter all information once to create distinct permits for each season quickly and easily, saving time and reducing the cost to produce each permit.
