American Council of Engineering Recognizes Lochner's Life Dimensional 3D Project
The ACEC awards H.W. one of its Excellence Awards for a project which used a new technology in its project.
Salt Lake City, UT, February 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- HW Lochner receives an American Council of Engineering (ACEC) Excellence Honor Award using new visualization technology.
The technology is named as Life Dimensional 3D (LD3) and is created by Salt Lake Citybased company, InteliSum. Using patented technology, LD3 fuses digital imagery to 3D real world data. This creates an instant model of an environment that can be measured and analyzed using desktop surveying tools. This eliminates some of the steps in the design and planning processes creating a faster turn-around.
The fast turn around is what caught the eye of the ACEC awards committee. An article in the Oregon Daily Journal of Commerce cites, “By using the system, the project team was able to immediately view images and make any necessary adjustments while still in the field. H.W. Lochner finished the project on a lean, 20-day timeline that resulted in the city walking away with a complete digital record of the West Burnside/Couch corridor that can be used for future planning purposes.”
