BMGI India’s Third Customer Summit Creates a Mélange for Process Excellence and Innovation

Mumbai, India, February 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- BMGI India – a global leader in Six Sigma, Lean, Innovation and CSR – organizes Customer Summits every year to provide platform to like minded people to discuss best practices, share knowledge, communicate buy-ins from various perspectives, discuss ideas, challenges, solutions and more. It has always been a unique event to bond these like minded people as one “performance excellence community”. The 2009 edition of Customer Summit, the third since 05-06 was held at the Taj Deccan in Hyderabad on the 8th & 9th of January. This event was a glittering success with participation across diverse industries with senior management representatives actively engaging, questioning and networking during the sessions. This time around it provided a good opportunity for organizations to share their best practices in these difficult and challenging times.
This year’s BMGI India customer summit was themed on iQ: Partnering with its clients to enhance iQuotient - Ideas to jump start performance to the next level, using Innovation to drive growth, Improving processes, driving Initiative at all levels, gaining Inspiration from the best deployments and creating a blueprint for Implementation to achieve breakthrough results. Innovation was a highlight because - Innovation drives value.
The Summit Agenda had sessions representing both manufacturing and service organizations such as Ador Fontech, Apollo Health Street, Ballarpur Industries, Bharti Airtel, Dell, Jabil Circuit, John Deere, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, Tata AMC, Tata Projects, UBS, VFS etc. The success stories reflected the application of methodologies as varied as Lean Six Sigma, Innovation and Enterprise Process Management. The size of the participating organizations also varied from medium–sized enterprises to large organizations. These organizations were represented by MDs, VPs, GMS, Heads of Businesses and Deployment Champions. The speakers at the summit included Mr Sanjeev Sadavarti, Corporate Quality Head at Apollo Tyres, Mr Lalit Vij, the MD of Principal Global Services (PGS), and Mr Sanjiv Rangrass, VP ITC.
On one hand presentation by Mr Shah shared know-hows on Harsha engineers achievements of financial benefits of around Rs 4 crores within just five months through Six Sigma initiatives, on the other hand Mr Gaurav Rathore talked about how Kingfisher quickly became India's first five star airline through the quick and focused efforts of process management. Similarly, Mr Shankar shared insights on how Hyderabad Industries led to savings of Rs 75 lacs within three months through lean initiatives. Mr Bhambani, added experience of lean practice of Ador Powertron and associated projected annualized benefit of nearly Rs 16 crores.
One of the other highlights of the Summit was the session by the social entrepreneur, Mr Ravi Ghate, the Founder of SMS One. He enthralled the audience by showing how the simple tool of communication, the SMS, can be transformed into a powerful community initiative.
The Summit concluded with Innovation workshop. Dr Phil Samuel, the Chief Innovation Officer of BMGI, took all participants through this workshop. The initial part was applying a powerful model relating to problem solving styles called the Adaption – Innovation theory where each participant was given a personal score on his / her personal problem solving style. This was followed up with a session on ‘Everyday Innovation’ to help professionals and organizations succeed in applying innovation to business models, processes, products and services.
